Although most of our musical sounds are made with traditional Chinese instruments, the songs we play come from six continents. The core of the repertoire consists of traditional folk songs and orchestral and opera compositions from China, augmented by an ample mix of European classics like Canon in D, the Radetzky March, American pop pieces like Que Sera Sera and The Entertainer, and a cornucopia of African, Australian and Latin American folk songs. We feel it is important to expose our students to a wide variety of world cultures through music. Likewise, when we go on tour, we expose our audiences to traditional Chinese culture. When we played at the World Children's Art Festival in D.C., our students shared the performance stage with kids from all over the world.
